RULES FOR THE “ARTE EUROPE GRAND QUIZ” PRIZE COMPETITION
ENTRIES FROM 16/04/2024 TO 11/06/2024

1 – ORGANISATION

ARTE EEIG, having its registered office at 4, Quai Chanoine Winterer, 67000 Strasbourg (hereafter referred to as “ARTE EEIG”)

(hereafter together referred to as “ARTE”)

Is organising the “ARTE Europe Grand Quiz” prize competition, with entry free of charge and without a purchase obligation. It will run from 16/04/2024 to 11/06/2024 inclusive. Entrants will have an opportunity to win the prize(s) described in Article 4 of these Rules.

The competition will be publicised on ARTE’s website at http://quiz.arte.tv/.

The competition is open to all adults living in Europe (including European Union Member States, the UK and European Free Trade Association Member States) but excluding members of the organising company’s permanent or temporary staff and their families.

To promote clear understanding of these Rules, the words below will be defined as follows:

  • “Entrant” will mean any individual with an arte.tv account who has answered the questions of at least one of the quizzes in the “ARTE Europe Grand Quiz,”
  • “Winner” will mean any individual drawn at random from among the Entrants.

2 – TAKING PART IN THE COMPETITION

To take part in the competition, Entrants will visit the website at http://quiz.arte.tv/, log into their arte.tv accounts or open a new account. Entrants must correctly answer at least one of the eight quizzes. Entrants must then click on the “save” tab placed at the end of the 5 quiz questions.

The competition will take place as follows: Entrants can take part in the competition until 11/06/2024 by logging into their “Mon ARTE” accounts and clicking on the “save” tab placed at the end of a quiz, having answered the questions correctly. Entrants must answer the questions of at least one of the eight quizzes forming part of the “ARTE Europe Grand Quiz” to be entered in the prize draw, which will take place on 14/06/2024, as stated in Article 3 of these Rules. Winners will be contacted by email after the draw, at the email address stated in their arte.tv accounts at the date of the draw.

Entrants will take part individually. Each Entrant (same email address associated with only one arte.tv account) is only allowed to answer the questions in a quiz once.

It is strictly prohibited, by any means whatsoever, to alter or attempt to alter any feature or mechanism of the competition, in particular to change its procedures or manipulate its outcome. ARTE reserves the right to take any legal action it may deem necessary, including a criminal prosecution. ARTE also reserves the right, by any means and as it sees fit, to ensure that all Entrants enjoy an equal chance in the competition and to disqualify any Entrant failing to comply fully with these Rules.

ARTE will also have the right to disqualify from the competition any Entrant and/or their contribution which is in breach of these Rules, in particular the terms and conditions that govern taking part in the competition. ARTE’s decision will be final. In posting content to ARTE’s website, Entrants agree to respect the channel’s authority and comply with the aforementioned terms and conditions.

Entrants will be liable for any communication / network costs they may incur in consulting or taking part in the competition during the entry period.

Entries for the competition may be made until 5 p.m. on 11/06/2024.

3 – PRIZE DRAW / AWARD OF PRIZES

Competition Winners will be selected by prize draw from among those who took part and answered correctly in the “ARTE Europe Grand Quiz” and who reside in Europe.

The draw will take place on 14/06/2024 and will be conducted by ARTE EEIG. The Winners will be drawn manually by ARTE EEIG.

ARTE will notify the Winners by email no later than 21/06/2024 using information and contact details provided in their arte.tv accounts. This email will be sent to Winners in French, German and English. Winners must confirm whether they wish to receive their prize by return email no later than midnight on 28/06/2024. Winners are required to give their last name, first name, date of birth and postal address in their return email.

Prizes will be awarded to the Winners by email to the address stated in their arte.tv accounts.

The prize will be forfeit, with no right of appeal, in the cases set out below:

  • if Winners fail to confirm their wish to receive their prize or do not provide the necessary information for the prize to be delivered within the time limits specified above;
  • if a Winner cannot or does not wish to benefit from the prize; or
  • if Winners’ specified contact details are not or are no longer valid when ARTE comes to award the prize.

ARTE will not contact Entrants who have not been successful in the draw.

4 – PRIZES

The competition is offering the following prizes:

  • six (6) lots comprising a visit to Strasbourg, European capital and where ARTE’s head office is located;
  • fifty (50) ARTE foutas;
  • ten (10) ARTE 2 day bags;
  • forty (40) ARTE green cotton bags.

First prize: a visit to Strasbourg from 4 to 6 October 2024 for 2 people including travel and accommodation costs, and a guided visit to the ARTE television channel. This guided visit will be available in French, German and English. Winners will be told by email how to receive or activate their prize.

Prizes do not include the costs of any visas, seat reservations, drinks, meals, authorisations to take photos or shoot videos at any sites visited, cancellation guarantees or tips.

Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged for another prize or for their cash value equivalent. Winners will accept their prizes “as they are.”

ARTE reserves the right to substitute prizes should circumstances so require, without such substitution giving rise to any claim or complaint.

5 – LIABILITY

ARTE, its employees and representatives disclaim all liability for any damage occurring in relation to accepting prizes.

ARTE and its agents disclaim liability for any incidents and/or accidents, and their consequences, suffered by Winners or caused by Winners or, generally, any incident or accident occurring during, or in connection with, the competition and anything that follows it.

ARTE disclaims any liability for any problems associated with the organisation of the visit, any failure on the part of service providers or shortcomings in the organisation of the Competition itself.

ARTE disclaims all liability for any problem associated with service providers delivering a prize, the condition of the prize, how it works or how long delivery takes.

ARTE also reserves the right to shorten, extend, modify or cancel the competition, without notice, for whatever reason, without liability and without compensating Entrants.

ARTE reminds Entrants of the drawbacks and limitations of the telecommunications network and disclaims liability for any consequences of Entrants connecting to this network through the website.

ARTE further disclaims all liability for any delivery problems resulting in the loss of postal or electronic mail.

6 – PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING

ARTE EEIG is responsible for organising the vote (registering and validating each vote), ARTE EEIG is responsible for organising the quizzes and setting the questions (recording the answers and verifying their accuracy), holding the competition and prize draw (as the case may be) and selecting the Winners. ARTE is responsible for awarding Winners their prizes.

To take part in the prize competition, Entrants must connect to their “Mon ARTE” arte.tv account.

For the purposes stated above:

  • ARTE will need to process Entrants’ email addresses and the Winners’ last names, first names, dates of birth and email addresses.

The Entrants’ personal data will be retained until the date of the draw, i.e. 31 December 2024.

The Winners’ personal data will be retained by ARTE EEIG until 31 August 2024.

ARTE EEIG will receive data in its capacity as data controller.

In organising the vote, ARTE EEIG will use the services of a company called “Pan !,” a data processor based in France at 9 Boulevard de la Dordogne, 67000 Strasbourg.

Entrants’ data will never be transferred beyond the borders of the European Union or countries included in a European Commission adequacy decision. The data are reserved for ARTE’s exclusive use.

The personal data referred to above will only be processed with the Entrants’ consent.

In accordance with French Data Protection Law, No. 78-17, of 6 January 1978, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (“GDPR”). Entrants benefit from a right of access, a right to the rectification or erasure of their data, a right to object to processing, to a restriction of processing and a right to the portability of their personal data, that they may exercise by sending an email to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) at the following email address: dpo-arte@arte.tv or by mailing a letter to the following address:

To protect Entrants’ privacy, ARTE may take reasonable steps to verify their identify before granting their request.

For identification purposes, Entrants must indicate the email address used to take part in the “ARTE Europe Grand Quiz.”

On written request, sent in a hardcopy or electronic format, ARTE will notify Entrants, at any time, of the nature of processing of any data personal to them. Any data in relation to which ARTE still needs to satisfy its obligations, exercise its rights and which it is duty-bound by law to retain, will be excluded from any request to erase.

Entrants also have the right to contact the regulatory authority of their choice.

7 – ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

These Rules are available on ARTE’s website at https://quiz.arte.tv/reglement/.

Taking part in the competition implies unconditional acceptance of these Rules and any amendments made to them. Any failure to provide information or providing a false identity or address will result in automatic disqualification.

Additions or amendments to these Rules may be published during the competition. They will be regarded as appendices to the Rules.

These Rules will be governed by French law. Where there is any contradiction between the various language versions of these Rules, the French version will prevail.

Entrants agree to waive all rights of appeal or legal remedies.
